Commercial vehicles and fleet

Build the file for the vehicles that earn their keep.

The most expensive mistake in vehicle insurance is a rate class that does not match what the vehicle genuinely does. The quote is priced on specifics: what the vehicles carry, where the loads go, who drives, the records. This asks exactly those, one question per screen, and shows you the whole file before anything leaves.

Question 1

Your file, in plain words

Review it the way you would check a load before it leaves the yard. Correct what needs correcting, then move it to the form and choose how the reply arrives.

Why we ask

What a complete commercial vehicle and fleet file includes.

Fleet cover is priced on the questions below, and a file that answers them all gets a real quote on the first pass.

What the vehicles genuinely do

Tools, own goods, for-hire loads, passengers, site driving. The rate class must match the real use – this is the line claims get argued over.

Where the loads go

Local, cross-province or into the United States. For-hire hauling changes the file more than any other answer, and territory changes it again.

The biggest load

Cargo cover is not part of auto insurance, and it is sized on the most valuable load a vehicle carries – not the average one.

The tools in the van

Tools in a stolen van are a separate cover. The file carries the number, so the cover matches the trade.

Who drives, and the records

Named drivers or a rotating crew, and the honest state of the abstracts. Insurers pull the records anyway – the file saying it first keeps the quote real.

The limit above basic

A serious at-fault accident involving a work vehicle passes a basic limit quickly. Excess liability is priced from what sits there today.

The yard, counted

Pickups, cube vans, heavy trucks, trailers, specialised units. Weight and body type set the class before the first kilometre.

The record, told first

At-fault accidents and any decline or cancellation. All workable when they arrive from you, and all worse when they arrive from a database.

Excess liability, physical damage, cargo, tools, downtime cover – what you pick at the end is what the quote comes back showing, priced line by line.

After you press send

Read by the desk that knows what a wrong rate class costs.

Fleet files go to the commercial desk and get read whole, not skimmed. The reply arrives the next business day, and usually the same day – email, phone, or a time to come in, chosen by you on the form.
